 Our Description

(Rosa) [1769-1852] was born into a merchant family in Grenoble in the French Alps. She became a nun but was sent back to her family when the French Revolution closed her convent. She worked for 10 years in the underground Church and joined the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1804. She dreamt of the foreign missions and was sent with four others to New Orleans in 1818 and then to St. Charles, Missouri. She worked for 24 years and established five struggling convents. In 1841, she went to the Indians in Kansas. Although too old to work, the Indians called her "the woman who always prays". She never knew the fruit her hard work would bear. Her feast is November 18.
