Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., entered the Capuchin Franciscans in 1965 and was ordained a priest in 1970. He served as a teacher, spiritual director, and pastor and held a variety of leadership positions with the Capuchins before being named bishop of Rapid City, South Dakota, in 1988.
