Strange as it may sound, the “dead” language of Latin isn’t really dead. It’s used daily in thousands of Catholic churches around the world and is still the official language of the Catholic Church. If you want to attend a Latin Mass or would like to learn how to sing Gregorian chant, learning the basics of the Latin language will be a great start. We recommend the Memoria Press curriculum for both its comprehensive texts and for its usability by all age groups. The series starts with Prima Latina which gives an overview of Latin pronunciation, grammar and also provides you with a decent vocabulary. Latina Christiana follows and then they have study guides for Henle Latin which was intended for high school students but is quite advanced for us today.
