This item received 5 stars overall. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Great gift, super resource, excellent production values.

I was so excited to receive the Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible in the mail that I started listening to it right out of the package. An audio recording of the New Testament, voiced by a cast of professional actors, this 18-CD compilation is an engaging, professional audio version of the Bible perfect for listeners of any age.
I've enjoyed listening to the CD's while going about my day - it's uplifting to hear the Word of God during the mundane duties of everyday life, and it also allows me to experience the Gospels "as the action unfolds." Hearing the recording on its own or while reading along is a terrific way to reflect upon the readings for the day or to study a book of the New Testament as a whole.
As a catechist, I cannot wait to use these recordings with my students. I plan to play snippets for them each week as we work our way through the New Testament, and I know this will be more effect Full Review...

This item received 5 stars overall. Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible is something special

Audio Bibles are nothing new, but the Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible is something special. Truth & Life includes a foreword by Pope Benedict XVI and bears the imprimatur of the Archbishop of New York. This 18-CD set is 22 hours long and features over 70 actors. Celebrity voices include Sean Astin, Neil McDonough,  Julia Ormand, Kristen Bell, Michael York, Malcolm McDowell, Stacy Keach, and John Rhy-Davies to name a few.

The well-chosen cast in this performance of the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition are not simply reading, they are acting. Raymond Arroyo, bestselling author and journalist, and one of four producers of Truth & Life, sums it up perfectly:

It’s the delivery . . . Reading or listening to Scripture being read is often a confusing, dull expe Full Review...

This item received 5 stars overall. Immerse Yourself in the Truth and Life of Our Blessed Lord

This long overdue review of the Truth and Life Audio Bible is one of the most difficult reviews I have yet to complete simply because I find it difficult to articulate the experience of immersing oneself in Scripture in this fashion.
The immersive feeling is a testament (no pun intended) to the level of production put forth into this resource. Not only does the all-star cast perform to the level one would expect but the subtleties of the score and sound effects is what completes the picture for the mind's eye.
When we read we often paint a picture in our minds of the places, persons and events described within the pages. Obviously, this is no different with the Bible. Yet we carry some prejudices into pages of Scripture when we read whether images on holy cards or visual performances but also theological Full Review...

This item received 2 stars overall. Doesn't Live Up to the Hype

I was really looking forward to this, primarily because I wanted to hear John Rhys Davies reading scripture. Sadly, Davies does very little – though he can read out the titles of the Pauline letters like no one else. Unfortunately, I found that this was pretty heavily oversold. Numerous blurbs all over the box rave about the number of hours spent, and the number of people involved; reviewers gush about how this is the definitive audio production of Scripture, how the listener is really transported back to the ancient world and the Scriptures come alive. I don’t know, maybe other people are able to suspend their disbelief a lot more effectively than I can, but I found that this was fairly mediocre given the hype.

One of the primary problems is overacting on the part of several of the principle characters: most notably Jesus sounds like He’s Full Review...

This item received 5 stars overall. Audio Bible For Those on the Go!

More and more we have become a family on the go.  I have had the wonderful pleasure of listening to The Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible on the way to school (two or three times a day, five days a week), while running, on our three hour drives to visit family, as well as right in my kitchen.  I found it best for me to load this on my ipod so I would never be without it.
I love being able to read from my Bible study in the morning and then catching up on the reading via the audio book sometime throughout the day.  It's been great to hear it twice.
The voices are absolutely  beautiful done, an all star line up.  Neal McDonough, Blair Underwood, Kristen Bell, John Rhys-Davies and one of my favorites - Julia Ormond (she has been in many movies but Legends of the Fall Full Review...
