About the Author
Matthew Kelly was born in Sydney, Australia, on July 12, 1973. During the past ten years over two million people have attended his talks, seminars, and retreats. Against the backdrop of travel to fifty countries, millions more have been touched by his writings and appearances on radio and television programs.
Kelly's most recent books include The Shepherd, The Rhythm of Life, A Call to Joy, and Mustard Seeds. Collectively, his eight titles have been published in seven languages and have sold more than one million copies.
Not what I expected!
When I first received this book as a gift my first thought was, based on reading the title, "Great! A book that will help me understand the teachings of the Catholic faith." Boy was I wrong. This book does not explain the doctrines of our faith and how we should live them out. This book asks its readers to look deep within their souls to gain an understanding of how they are living their lives...and how they should live their lives. It is through living our lives as Christ wants us to that we come to a better understanding of our Catholic faith and "Rediscover Catholicism".
This book took a hold of my heart and told me that I needed to reorient my life. Our society is surrounded by individualism, hedonism, and minimalism and in order to understand and "rediscover" our Catholic faith we need to reject these modern philosophies. Matthew Kelly starts with the premise that Catholicism is not a set of rules and guidelines, but a way of life. Many Cat Full Review...
I must say that I’m impressed with Rediscovering Catholicism by Matthew Kelly. There are some books about Catholics coming back to the faith that give just a taste of the richness within the Church. Others tend to focus on a few aspects of the Catholic faith or treat one particular subject in depth. This book is a great one to give to those who are wondering about Catholicism, those who have fallen away from the Church of their youth, those who would like to learn the Truth about the pillars of the faith, as well as devout Catholics interested in growing closer to the Lord.
