"A very useful and practical manual for every English-speaking parish."
- Msgr. John E. Steinmueller

Those words were written in Homiletic and Pastoral Review, 1961, by the famed Scripture scholar - and pastor - about this manual of prayers and guide for priests using the old Latin ritual(s).  In short, any priest using the traditional Latin altar missal under the papal indult today, would find this New Sanctuary Manual, says Msgr. Steinmueller...

"...one of the most complete and practical books to be used at the altar as well as in the sacristy and rectory.  Comparison with the older current editions of sanctuary manuals immediately shows its superiority.

The frequently-used prayers after Low Mass, as well as those sung in the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and the Divine Praises, are conveniently found on the inner pages of the front and back covers.  Whenever the vernacular may be substituted in the ritual for the Latin, a good English translation is given in the parallel column.

In addition, the type used in this book is very legible.

In every parish, large or small, there are particular prayers for special occasions which must be sought constantly in various manuals or rituals.  Father Kennedy (compiler of this Manual) is to be congratulated for having satisfied just about all of these parochial needs.

For instance, priests will be happy to have at hand the administration of Confirmation to those seriously ill, with the complete canonical legislation on the subject; the dedication of the bride to the Blessed Virgin, which is rarely found in rituals; silver and golden anniversary blessings with special exhortations; touching graveside prayers; and appropriate blessings of children; the Psalms used in stripping altars in Holy Week; a useful pledge for alcoholics and a new short form of the Profession of Faith.

The New Sanctuary Manual can be highly recommended as a very useful and practical manual for every English-speaking parish."
