 Our Description

"A personal testimony of gratitude to God who has sustained me throughout my confused, distracted, and often difficult life." —From the Introduction Some human suffering can't be "fixed." Maybe yours is like that, or maybe you have a family member or friend in that situation. John Janaro's been there—in fact, still is there. His struggles with debilitating illness, chronic depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder could easily bring on a massive case of self-pity, but Janaro has found a better way to live. If you're thinking of retreating into your private world of pain—or if you know someone who has—Never Give Up will help you see how God's fidelity, the small wonders of daily life, a dose of humor, and the simple kindness of others can bring light into the darkness. John Janaro is associate professor emeritus of Theology at Christendom College. He is a member of the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation and he is a frequent contributor to Magnificat magazine. He and his wife Eileen live in Virginia with their five children.

This item received 5 stars overall. Practical, Conversational Exploration of God's Mercy through Suffering

The author of Never Give Up: My Life and God's Mercy, John Janaro, has written an excellent chronicle of his own life, which not only provides accurate medical and clinical information, but reveals how God's mercy shines through the author's own life and our own - when we let Him. It is a source of inspiration for all.
Janaro writes in a practical manner - speaking directly to the reader without any overtone or over-intellectualism. A respect for the intellect of the reader is displayed even as he explains medical information in a practical, easy-to-understand, and conversational manner. You really feel like he is right here, talking to you. He does not pretend to have all the answers, but promises to share what he can, so that God's mercy can be explored together.
Most chapters are short and focused, allowing for both brief reading sessions or longer, multi-chapter readings. Many Scripture p Full Review...
