A Catholic Mother's Companion to Pregnancy
Walking with Mary from Conception to Baptism
Sarah A. Reinhard
Foreword by Lisa M. Hendey

Popular blogger and speaker Sarah A. Reinhard presents the first book to accompany expectant mothers from conception to baptism with weekly reflections and prayers rooted in the mysteries of the Rosary and related to the baby's physical development.

Designed to help expectant mothers embrace pregnancy as an opportunity for spiritual growth, A Catholic Mother's Companion to Pregnancy prepares mothers for the trials and joys of pregnancy, childbirth, baptism, and ultimately, motherhood.  Each week of pregnancy is paired with a mystery of the Rosary, a personal, down-to-earth reflection from Reinhard, advice for living the sacramental life, and a prayer to help the reader grow in faith as she bonds with her unborn child.

"Sarah Reinhard combines insight and humor to create yet another must-have book for Catholic moms.  Whether this is your first pregancy or your tenth, you'll find this to be an invaluable resource." -Jennifer Fulwiler, Blogger at

This item received 4 stars overall. A guide to the spirituality and biology of pregnancy and motherhood.

I (somewhat) recently had my fifth child.  It wasn't until the very last days of that pregnancy that The Catholic Mother's Companion to Pregnancy came into my hands, and it isn't until now- six months later- that I am getting a chance to write this review.  How I wish this book had been around when I was just having my first child!  Mrs. Reinhard takes you through pregnancy- week by week- covering every aspect that you could ever imagine.   From miscarriage to physical complaints to fetal development to your changing spiritual life- this book talks about it all.

Each chapter covers one week (or so) of pregnancy and is divided into sections: fetal development, maternal development, "Walking with Mary", "One Small Step", and "Faith Focus".  It includes meditiations, prayers, and practical information on your baby's fut Full Review...

This item received 5 stars overall. A Practical Guide that Also Nourishes the Inner Mother-To-Be

So many of the crosses I have are made heavier by my approach to them. Instead of just walking along and dealing with them, I spend energy complaining, dreading, and trying to avoid them. Rather than offer them to God or--better yet--rather than asking him to help me, I try to do it just like my toddler insists, "By myself!"
When Jesus carried his cross, it wasn't easy. But it did end. Our crosses aren't forever. If there's an aspect of your pregnancy that is a cross for you, turn to this mystery in a special way. Ask Mary to help you turn your focus toward the One who stands ready to help you carry it.

Full disclosure: Sarah is a friend of mine.
Second full disclosure: That didn't make me want to read this book.
Final full disclosure: When forced by the bonds of friendship to grudgingly read it, I loved it. Now, that's a good book!

This item received 5 stars overall. Perfect Gift for Mom-to-Be

When I was pregnant with my first child (who is twenty now), I read What to Expect When You Are Expecting and some book that had film plastic overlays showing how the various systems in the baby's body developed.  I suspect I got some other books about pregnancy and childbirth from the library(this was before my internet days).  I was blissfully happy being pregnant (at least until morning sickness hit) and wanted to know all I could about this wonderful process happening inside me.  When I was pregnant with my third, my dad gave me a book for Christmas--The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy Full Review...

This item received 5 stars overall. One-of-a-kind book - indispensable for expectant Catholic moms

I had the privilege of contributing a very small snippet to Sarah Reinhard's A Catholic Mother's Companion to Pregnancy and I’m so honored to have been a part of it. Sarah has put together a thoughtful, funny, and meditative compilation of thoughts and resources for expectant Catholic women.

It can be difficult to navigate the various questions and challenges of pregnancy while keeping our faith at the forefront, both in terms of not giving into anxiety and apprehension about all of the small and big decisions that accompany new motherhood as well as holding strong to your beliefs if faced with challenging medical issues. Sarah’s writing is reassuring and positive while encouraging us to grow spiritually wh Full Review...
