(Susanna) [died 295], a virgin and martyr. It is said that she was the beautiful niece of St. Caius, the Bishop of Rome and that she was beheaded for refusing to marry Maximian, Emperor Diocletian‚s partner. One legend says that an idol fell from its pedestal when she breathed upon it. The Basilica of St. Susanna is in Rome dedicated to her. Her feast is August 11.
