Mary Magdalene (Maria, Marie, Marion, Marlena, Maureen, Moira, Mimi, Molly) [1st Century] is mentioned in all four gospels as one of the most devoted followers of Jesus. She was one of the women to discover the Lord‚s tomb empty. Later she was the first to see the Risen Christ and to tell the disciples he had risen. She is shown with the jar of anointing oils she took to the tomb. She is not the unnamed sinner or the sister of Martha and Lazarus, as once believed. Her feast is July 22.
