Based on true events, this award-winning film recounts the inspiring life of a young girl born deaf and blind, and the courageous young nun who would change her forever, confronting failures and discouragement with joyous faith and love. In the early 19th century, a humble artisan and his wife send their teenage daughter Marie to the Larnay Institute in France, a school for deaf girls run by an order of Catholic nuns, and the idealistic Sister Marguerite vows to bring the girl out of the darkness into which she was born.
