[or comedian, died c.300], was the favorite comedian of the day. He was converted while performing a play ridiculing the Christian practice of Baptism before the Emperor Diocletian. At the end of the play, he professed his faith before the Emperor and was tortured and beheaded. He is shown with the actor‚s mask, a violin, the baptismal font and a sword, the implement of his death. He is patron of actors and comedians, as well as converts, lawyers, printers, secretaries and victims of torture. His feast is August 25.
