Fr. Thomas Green, S.J., well-loved author and seminary professor, brings the wisdom he has gained through thirty-five years as a spiritual director to The Friend of the Bridegroom, a personal and insightful look at spiritual direction in the life of the Christian. Rooted in Green's experience, focusing on the directee's spiritual needs, The Friend of the Bridegroom inspires as well as informs. From defining spiritual direction itself, to explaining how best to choose a director, to showing the importance of listening and confidentiality in spiritual direction, The Friend of the Bridegroom discloses the essence, the process, and the aim of spiritual direction. The Friend of the Bridegroom penetrates to the heart of the soul's desire–not for conversations with a mentor alone, but for nothing less than communion with God. The wise spiritual director knows this, and humbly walks with the directee into the depth of this mystery. This book is for anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God–the beginner on the spiritual journey and the seasoned spiritual director alike.
