[1813-1853], was a „Renaissance man‰ of his time. He was a lawyer, teacher, scholar, social activist and a devoted husband and father. His dedication (as an intellectual) to social reform and Christian social justice led him, with others, to found the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in 1833. He was devoted to the truth and tried always to link his beliefs to Christian action. He is a great example of a man who integrated his intellectual, professional and spiritual lives for the good of others. His feast is September 9.
