Almost every year we have a post explaining why your breast cancer donations would best be given to something other the Susan G. Komen Foundation since the foundation affiliates have given millions of dollars over the years to Planned Parenthood. In the past they claimed that the funds were used by Planned Parenthood to provide mammograms to those poor, poor women whose only recourse to medical care was a company that kills millions of babies a year, coaches underage kids how to lie about statutory rape, how to protect your pimping business and other unsavory stuff.
Well, it turns out that Planned Parenthood doesn't do mammograms. They have said that they do but it turns out, I am shocked, just shocked to say, was a lie. This year the Susan G. Komen foundation sent out a letter clarifying that:
In its email to people concerned about the Komen-Planned Parenthood connection, a Komen official admits Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide mammograms for women with its grant money. Komen makes it clear the money is merely funneled through the abortion business to legitimate medical centers that actually perform mammograms.
Oh, good. So Komen gives millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood that are passed along to other facilities. but wait, wasn't the money donated to Planned Parenthood in the past because there wasn't any other place for women to go? Is it possible that the altruistic Planned Parenthood wouldn't have actually done referrals if the funds hadn't been given to them to pass along to someone else in the first place? This is just too convoluted to be 100% on the up-and-up. You can read the whole story here.
Did I mention that the Komen Foundation supports embryonic stem cell research?
