Giving Up Chocolate for Lent

“When you get to Heaven, do you want your claim to Heaven to be that you gave up chocolate for Lent? Eternity's a long time and hopefully you want to have a better story to tell than that.” – Curtis Martin at the Catholics United for the Faith retreat in Colorado Springs today.

  1. Hear, hear! My priest (on campus) mentioned something along those same lines in his homily yesterday: “If you’ve got great skin at Easter time, but you’re no closer to Jesus, then you should have just eaten the chocolate.”

  2. Although I am not Catholic our church did something similar- fasting from something in our lives. I am fasting from secular music. This fast is much harder than any actual no food fasts I have ever engaged in.
