Da Vinci Roundup

The Last Supper by Leonardo Da VinciWe have seen so many good resources for responding to the Da Vinci Code that I thought rounding them up into one place would be helpful. I've divided them up into articles and products.

On a rather disturbing note, several weeks ago we sent a flyer to every local parish promoting parish resources for dealing with the claims put forth by the book since it appears that there are plenty of Catholics who take this stuff seriously. We didn't get one call from a parish even asking for more information, let alone any indication that any parish in the diocese is responding. I would love to attribute the lack of response to the superior catechesis of Catholics in our diocese. I also would love to believe that people don't shop at Catholic book stores for the same reason. Unfortunately, I'm not naive.

Websites and Articles The Jesus Decoded website is an official production of the USCCB that has articles about themes in the book, information about the Jesus decoded television show and official Catholic teaching on various topics related to the book. Amy Welborn is one of the writers for the site.

Da Vinci Code and Opus Dei is a blog by Fr. Wauck, a priest of Opus Dei. He keeps good tabs on the portrayal of Opus Dei in the press and book.

Dismantling the Da Vinci Code is an article from Crisis magazine that came out when the book was first published.

Not just Christians think the book is a crock.

Barbara Nicolosi has a great rant about The Da Vinci Code.

The Da Vinci Hoax Blog is a blog maintained by Carl Olson, co-author of the Da Vinci Hoax book from Ignatius Press. If you want an extensive list of articles in chronological order on the topic, the Ratzinger Fan Club is your resource.

On a lighter note, Dave Barry doesn't take the book seriously either.
