This wonderful guide includes morning, evening, and nighttime hymns and prayers as well as Mass, daily meditations, and information about the saints. There's even a section included with the Order of the Mass in addition to prayers for Eucharistic Adoration. Magnificat is a monthly publication which comes in a light, truly pocket-sized booklet, making it very easy to keep with you wherever you go. At home, I have three different books I regularly consult for daily readings, information on the lives of the saints, and for Scripture reflections. It wouldn’t be practical to carry all of these with me to Mass, Adoration, to work, while running errands, or when I travel. Much of what is in the heavy books I refer to when at home is contained in the Magnificat in monthly increments. This is the perfect prayer guide for the person on the go. I’ve gotten in the habit of keeping the curren Full Review...
At first I wasn't sure if Magnificat Magazine would actually be worthwhile for me. I don't typically go to daily Mass, and I can always find the readings for Sunday Mass online. I'm glad I put those thoughts aside and gave Magnificat a chance. I did not anticipate opening it every morning for the morning prayer. Taking a few minutes during the day to enjoy the daily Mass readings was the prefect little break in my day. I looked forward to ending my day with the evening prayer. Having these pieces to guide me through my day helped me become more aware of where God was during my day. I have noticed a big difference in God's place in my everyday life. God used to seem almost as an after thought. It could be easy to forget to keep God in the center of my day when I was running around ta Full Review...
I have been a subscriber of the Magnificat magazine for a little over a year. I really love this little magazine that comes every month. It is one of the best purchases I made for myself. Originally, I had thought to use this only for the daily Mass readings. I have now found that I also read the short editorials and the explanation on a piece of art.
I find that even if I am not able to attend daily Mass, I can still read the exact same readings that I would have heard at Mass. I like to use the Magnificat as a meditation aid on the Scripture for the day. The Magnificat is a great help in this because there is a meditation following the daily readings that is applicable to the readings! The Magnificat has been an indispensible aid in my spiritual life, helping me to stay focused during Mass. I have just recently started to use the Magnificat to follow along with the Eucharistic Prayers. I have to say that without my Magnificat, my mind wanders at Mass. Full Review...
I'm always interested in reading books or articles that will show me how to increase my spiritual life, to concentrate my focus on the Divine rather than the mundane. I've found it harder, as my children have gotten older, to find the time for spiritual reading. Until now. I received the Magnificat Magazine (a monthly) for review and I couldn't be more pleased. If you've never seen one, I'll describe it: it's the size of a paperback book so it fits neatly into a man's suit pocket or a woman's purse. The cover is usually graced with a lovely piece of religious art -- which is explained within the magazine. There are always a couple of meditations written on a central theme by modern theologians, usually developing something the Holy Father has said or a current world situation. Further, there is always a work of art that pertains to the Full Review...
When my sister first introduced me to the Magnificat, I assumed it was just a bookdlet containing a month's worth of readings for mass. I was very wrong in my assumption because these magazines are not only a great accompaniment for mass services, but great tools for everyday spiritual life. While I may not be able to go to daily mass due to my job schedule, I often end up with a bit of reading time during my commute to work. I have started keeping the Magnificat in my bag so that I can read it on the train or in the subway in order to refresh my prayer life. In the United States, the Magnificat is available as 6 month, 1 year, 2 year, and 4 year subscriptions and is available in a large print format. For those of you considering the 1 year subscription, you will receive 13 issues, one for each month and another for Holy Week. The co Full Review... |
