The Great Adventure Bible Study Product Overview

The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Series is one of the most exciting Bible Studies available for either group study or personal study. With it's unique learning system, the Bible comes alive by simplifying this complex book and telling the story of Salvation History as it appears in the narrative books of the Bible. To some though, the real Great Adventure lies in navigating the extensive product list and choosing the appropriate package that will fit your needs. With this guide you can cease your wanderings and be assured you'll have the materials required to lead or attend a Great Adventure 24-Week Bible Study course.

For Leaders

The most essential item for leaders is the Great Adventure 24-Week DVD set. This 12 Disc set has 24 hour-long lessons on it hosted by Jeff Cavins. His insight and humor make this an easy series to watch, you can set it up to allow for breaks. Don't make the mistake choosing the CD set instead of the DVD set because of the price difference. The CD set has a purpose, but it is not for the group study.

The second item you'll need is the Great Adventure Study Set. Modestly priced around $30, this set provides you with tips for leading your study, Questions (and the Answers) for discussion, and prayer guides. The Great Adventure program requires that leaders and participants read the Bible and do the studying, so you can't do without the study set.

For Attendees

When you watch the first introductory lesson, Jeff Cavins will hold up some items and tell you that you received them in your packet. He will talk about your Bible Timeline Chart , the bracelet, study questions, and colored pencils. If your study group provided you with a packet then you should have everything you need. If not, then you'll have to decide what you need. All of these items can be purchased together in the Great Adventure Bible Timeline Study Kit. Don't be disappointed though when you discover that there are no longer colored pencils. You'll have to find your own if you want them. If you happen to be one of those people who wants all the toys but has no intention of doing the homework, you can purchase the Great Adventure Seminar Pack. You'll still get the chart, bookmark, and bractlet, but you won't have the binder with the workbook or study questions. For the real go-getters who can't get enough, there is the Great Adventure 24-week CD set. No one can remember everything on the DVD so this CD set provides you with the same audio from the DVDs at a fraction of the cost.

As you're assembling your resources (and this goes for leaders too) keep in mind that you'll need a Bible (Jeff Cavins recommends the RSV or NAB translations) and a Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Personal Study

If you are interested in studying the Bible with this course but you don't know of a local group and can't do it on your own, there is the Great Adventure Starter Pack and the Quick Journey Through the Bible. With the Starter Pack you get most of the accessories plus a CD with a short Bible Study on it. The Quick Journey program is an eight part series that stands alone or can be used as an introduction to the 24-week series.

Accessories

All the Bible Timeline products are available in sets and sold individually. If you lose your chart you don't have to purchase the Study Set again. In addition, you can buy extra bookmarks, Bible Indexing Tabs that have been color-coded to match the rest of the timeline, and a Then and Now Bible Maps book that has clear overlays that let you compare ancient geography with modern changes.
