The Faith Database – A Wealth of Catholic Information At Your Fingertips

The Faith Database is just the tool for you. This is much more than a merely a Bible or Catholic Encyclopedia on CD Rom. With this software, you have a portal to a myriad of Catholic information; ancient church writings, information on Saints and Church History, apologetics works, and much more. And of course, it does include the Bible – in more than 10 translations!

  • Over 10 Bible Translations, including Vulgate, NAM, RSV, Douay-Rheims, and more. The Bible verses are even cross referenced, linking to other translations of the same verse, related passages, and if applicable documents Church fathers wrote about the verse.
  • 8 Council Documents from all 21 Ecumenical Councils, 1300 Papal encyclicals and other writings, 400 early Church writings, and the Old Catholic Encyclopedia
  • Classic books from GK Chesterton (112 books) and John Henry Newman (74).
  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church, as well as the Baltimore Catechism, and the Catechism of Trent.
  • Over 1000 Bible art images and over 100 maps.
  • An apologetics section with information on Catholic doctrines and supporting Bible quotes.
  • An apologetic test feature, which allows you to test yourself on knowledge of various Catholic subjects.

How to Use the Faith Database?
 
The Faith Database is incredibly easy to use. After loading the program on your computer, everything is accessible through the one window. All of the extensive documents, books, and other writings are reached by clicking one of eleven different tabs – Writings, Bible, Encyclopedia, History, Apologetics, The Mass, Saints, Art and Images, Bookmarks, Test, and Tutorials. You simply click on one of the tabs, and find what you are looking for through either the search options or selecting from the menus.
 
For example, if you are looking for St. Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologica, you would click on the writings tab and then select “Aquinas, St. Thomas” from the “Writers” menu. This would then bring up the available writings from St. Thomas; select Summa Theologica then find the subject either through the clickable table of contents, or using the search feature for the particular writing. If, on the other hand, you want to search for a subject but not a specific writer, you would be able to click “Search All” and enter the keyword to bring up all the writings on that subject.
 
You can even save information to come back and re-read with the bookmark feature. If you find a particularly moving document, or a Bible passage you want to come back to, save it in bookmarks for later. Simply click the plus sign (+) next to the paragraph, and in the window that pops-up you can add any notes you want to leave for yourself, select or create a new category to save under and it will be added to your bookmarks. You can then come back the next day, click on the bookmarks tab and easily bring up the passage again.
 
The Tutorials tab is great to check out as soon as you load the program. It includes four how-to audio-videos to help you familiarize yourself with how to make use of the Faith Database. The four videos are Lookup Topics in the Encyclopedia, Locate Writing and Export to PDF, Look up Scripture Verse in the Bible, and Navigating through Church History. These four videos show you click by click and step by step how to use those four basic actions, which are applicable across all of the features.
 
Who Will Benefit From the Faith Database?
 
Is there a Catholic anywhere who would not benefit from having access to a grand Catholic library, filled with ancient church writings, brilliant apologetics works, information about beloved saints, and more? Whether new to the faith, or a learned theologian, having access to Catholic information is a benefit to anyone. The easy to use menus and search feature allow one to quickly sift through multiple resources and church documents, typically found in a plethora of different books and all over the web, in one concise, reliable program.

  • Bible Study. With over ten translations and a feature to quickly bring up the parallel translations, related verses, and any writings/library references, this is an ideal tool to help you study the Bible.
  • For Teachers. Whether you teach Religious Education in a classroom setting or at home, these writings and other resources (which are printable) will come in very handy in teaching various subjects related to the Church and our faith. Also great for use in RCIA and other adult education programs, or in youth group or fellowship gatherings.
  • Furthering and Deepening Your Own Knowledge. Brush up on apologetics, read some Chesterton classics, try reading about one saint every day, study the papal encyclicals. This is a wealth of information waiting to be tapped. You don’t need to be in an organized Bible study or other class to reap the benefits. And the ‘Test’ feature will keep you on your toes!
