"This is the latest edition of a work whose origins go back to the 1938 edition of Neuner and Roos. This is in every respect what can be called post-conciliar. The introductions to the chapters have all been rewritten and revised in the light of recent scholarship and much new material had to be added to reflect so many theological developments since the Second Vatican Council. This collection begins with the chronologically arranged presentation of the professions of faith (creeds) of the Catholic Church followed by material arranged in 23 chapters. Each of these chapters deals with a broad topic under which the relevant documents are arranged again in chronological order. These chapter headings reflect the basic elements of our Catholic faith.
