General Description:
Gerard Moore
How do we pray our way through the Mass? What does this celebration require of us? How do its various parts touch us, change us, place our hearts in God’s hands? Why the Mass Matters addresses these questions and more as it awakens believers to the lively spirit of the liturgy. This readable book will enable Sunday worshipers, catechists, parish liturgy-team members, and youth groups to understand the Mass more fully and to appreciate its history and power. Why the Mass Matters is perfect for anyone interested in the Mass—it’s history, present, and future, as well as a must read for liturgy planners, priests, and anyone devoted to praying the Mass with richness and vitality.
AUTHOR PROFILE Gerard Moore holds a doctorate in theology from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and has written extensively on spirituality, liturgy, and justice. He has been the coordinator of liturgy at the Catholic Institute of Sydney and has worked on various committees of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL). He has also served as a member of the National Liturgical Commission of the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference as well as the ecumenical Australian Consultation on Liturgy (ACOL).
