The Quizzes to a Street Preacher Series

Quizzes To A Street Preacher - A Concise and Effective Apologetics Series

Have you ever found yourself caught off guard when someone asks you why the Catholic Church teaches what it does? Have ever been at a loss of words when asked to explain Rome’s teaching on one issue or another? How do you react when someone challenges an aspect of the True Faith? Well, if you are not able to pull a copy of the Catechism out of your back pocket or purse to support your answer, the handy Quizzes to a Street Preacher series should help you out.

These small books are only a of couple inches larger than a checkbook, easy to keep tucked in a vest, briefcase, purse, at the work desk, or even in the dashboard compartment in your car. Yet despite the compact size, these booklets pack a punch when it comes to informative content! Each title in the ten book series addresses a hot topic or often questioned subject of the Church’s teaching.

These booklets do not discount the value of more thorough Catholic apologetic books. Yet these mini-texts – which do not skimp on information – are perfect for a multitude of situations where stopping to page through a full length book may not be ideal. If you are looking to answer questions – of your own or from someone else – on a specific topic, these booklets are the way to go. For example, if you are having trouble explaining Purgatory, you can easily grab the Quizzes To a Street Preacher booklet for 32 information filled pages on the topic.

Additionally, the accessible format provides you with the tools to respond succinctly and adequately when put on the spot by a door-to-door evangelizer or a misinformed co-worker. The Catholic Church of course recognizes the important role of Priests and clergy in being a chief voice of defense and teaching for the Catholic faith, both through their words and the administration of Sacraments. However, the Church also emphasizes the duty of the laity:
There are innumerable opportunities open to the laity for the exercise of their apostolate of evangelization and sanctification. The very testimony of their Christian life and good works done in a supernatural spirit have the power to draw men to belief and to God; for the Lord says, "Even so let your light shine before men in order that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
However, an apostolate of this kind does not consist only in the witness of one's way of life; a true apostle looks for opportunities to announce Christ by words addressed either to non-believers with a view to leading them to faith, or to the faithful with a view to instructing, strengthening, and encouraging them to a more fervent life. "For the charity of Christ impels us." The words of the Apostle should echo in all hearts, "Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel."” – Apostolicam Actuositatem, Vatican II, 1965
You may be home, at work, with friends, at a mall or just walking down the street when you find the need to answer questions about the Faith. The laity should always be ready to preach the gospel and these booklets, which are much more than mere pamphlets, are a great aid in that. And as most Catholics who have been challenged about the faith know, sometimes you will encounter genuinely curious people; other times you may unfortunately encounter people prepared to attack the faith and doctrines of the Catholic Church. That this series is named “Quizzes to a Street Preacher” is not a bid to be clever or catchy; the books are in fact intended to help you with answers in those situations. These concise booklets are especially useful for helping to respectfully but truthfully answer the accusations against the church. They are written in a point-counterpoint format with the question or accusation you may get from someone followed by an eloquently and succinctly written response explaining the Church’s teaching.
The next time you are confronted about Catholicism what the Church believes and teaches, will you be prepared to answer with faith and reason? Click here to check out the entire line of the Quizzes to a Street Preacher series. At $2.50 for each well written and educational booklet, you can’t go wrong!

Here are just a couple of examples of the well written questions and answers you will find in these great little booklets:
Q. Was Martin Luther the first one to translate the Bible into the language of the people?
A. No. The Bible had been translated into Spanish, Italian, Danish, French, Norwegian, Polish, Bohemian and Hungarian long before Martin Luther gave out his Lutheran Bible. Seven hundred years before the birth of Luther we had an English translation. At the end of the seventh century we have in the English tongue the work of Caedmon, a monk of Whitby. In the next century we have the well-known translation of Venerable Bede, a monk of Jarrow. The Preface of the Authorized Version refers to previous translations of the Scriptures into the language of the people and after speaking of the Greek and Latin Versions, it says, "The Godly learned were not content to have the Scriptures in the language which they themselves understood, Greek and Latin . . . but also for the behoof and edifying of the unlearned which hungered and thirsted after righteousness, and had souls to be saved as well as they. They provided translations into the Vulgar for their countrymen, insomuch that most nations under Heaven did shortly after their conversion hear Christ speaking unto them in their Mother tongue, not by the voice of their minister only but also by the written Word translated."

Q. Why do you Catholics worship Mary as a goddess?
