St. Rose of Lima - Patroness of the Americas Sr. Mary Alphonsus, O.SS.R.
First canonized saint of the New World. Exquisitely beautiful, she refused to marry, practiced heroic charity and severe penances while living at home as a 3rd Order Dominican. She cared for the sick, obtained miraculous cures and became a mystic. She was canonized only 54 years after her death and is one of the Church's most popular saints.
