Product Details

 General Description:

The Franciscan Crown is also known as the Rosary of the Seven Joys of Mary.  It dates from the year 1422, when a young man was admitted to the Franciscan Order.  He had previously been accustomed to adorning a statue of the Blessed Virgin with a wreath of fresh flowers as a mark of his devotion.  On entering the Franciscans, he was not permitted to continue this pious act and so he decided to leave the Order.  But Our Lady appeared to him and asked him to recite seven decades of the Rosary instead in honor of her seven joys, thus weaving a crown more pleasing to her.  The seven joys of Mary are:

  • The Annunciation
  • The Visitation
  • The Nativity
  • The Adoration of the Magi
  • The Finding of Our Lord in the Temple
  • The Resurrection
  • The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven and Her Coronation
