General Description:
Breviarium Romanum
1962 edition
The recitation of the Divine Office should be at the heart of every Catholic, cleric (particularly those in major orders) and laic alike, and as museum collections attest, for nearly a millennia and a half it was! Join the Church in one of her richest liturgical treasures, and (with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass) her official form of prayer that daily entreats the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and honors the Angelic Choirs and the Saints of God.
This full breviary is a reprint of Dessain's 2-volume set originally printed in 1961, which conforms to the 1962 edition of the Breviarium Romanum. Printed in Latin (only) in red and black text arranged in double-column format throughout, the psalms are in the Vulate (not the neo-Psalter). Hardbound in black imitation leather with gold-embossing on the spine, sewn binding, red page edgings, a full set of 6 multi-colored ribbons, as well as various handy extras (also printed in red and black text):
a 16-page USA Breviary Propers supplement, containing the propers and festive dates special to the USA,
and convenient loose-leaf, double-sided inserts for the Benedictus, Magnificat, Ambrosian Hymn, the absolutions and blessings as well as Psalm 94 and its options during the office of Matins, the final antiphons for Our Lady,
Makes an excellent gift for priests and seminarians!
