 General Description:

We make about two hundred conscious decisions a day. Most are small. Some are huge:

  • Should I marry the woman or man I've been dating?
  • Should I go to graduate school? Join a religious order?
  • Should I leave the job I've been doing for fifteen years?
  • Do I need to fire someone who is working for me?
  • Should we adopt a child?

Other decisions are smaller, but still difficult:

  • If that guy asks me out again, should I accept?
  • How should we balance the family budget?
  • Should I serve on a committee at church?
  • How can we balance work, family, and personal time?

What Does GOD Want? A Practical Guide to Making Decisions is designed to help you make these decisions. It offers a five-part process for decision-making that can help you choose the right course of action in matters large and small. Developed by Father Michael Scanlon during more than thirty years of spiritual direction, counceling, and teaching, this approach to decision-making is grounded in Catholic tradition and tested by thousands in the real-life challenges of life direction, love, work, study, service, and relationships.

Father Michael Scanlon, T.O.R. is president of Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio and author of The Truth about Trouble (Servant) and many other books.

James Manney has collaborated with Father Scanlan on two previous books. He was editor of New Covenant magazine from 1987-1995.
