This fun show exposes babies, toddlers and young children to prayer and languages when their minds are most able and eager to learn.
Baby Bosco, inspired by St. John Bosco - lengendary friend of children - and his puppy Grigio host a delightful parade of Catholic art, statuary, toys, and children at play. Joyful music has little ones giggling, singing and asking to see Holy Baby! over and over.
Songs included on the DVD are: Holy Baby!; Jesus Loves Me; Rise & Shine; Holy, Holy, Holy; This Little Light of Mine; Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee; Faith of Our Fathers and Alleluia Sing to Jesus.

When I first received Holy Baby (volume 1) as a gift for my sons, I played the video for them and watched them enjoy it, though I thought the content was questionable. I'm not fond of the method they used to capture the child's attention while teaching them prayers - using toys, for example. But I dealt with it and they watch the video every so often, neither one particularly enthralled by it (they are 2 and 4). Then I went out and bought Holy Baby 2 for us, hoping it would be better - after all, this one is about the Eucharist and Jesus' love for us. I was so wrong. This one is far worse. I watched enough of the video to see that the teaching method is pretty much the same - read a Scripture, say a prayer, while showing mostly images on the tv of toys and other things that don't pertain an iota to the audio content. Here and there we do see a priest, or an altar, or even sacred images (which is a plus since the first Holy Baby was desperately lacking in these things). I fast-forwarded, just because I didn't want to waste my time, and came to a section on the Eucharist, where the voice was talking about the Body and Blood of Christ. Sounded wonderful, but what I saw what something else - for a moment or two we saw a monstrance (beautiful and moving)...but then around the time when the voice is telling the child about how Christ gave us His Body and Blood to eat and drink, we see a toy alligator rolling across the screen. Lovely! (sarcasm) I was annoyed. Then I fast-forwarded to the Divine Praises, and it is that particular part of the video that set me into a tirade and made even my husband fear me. :) The Divine Praises begin, with beautiful background music and a soft, prayerful voice.

HolyBaby #2 is even better than the first of the series. The sacred art is better, the music is appropriate to the purpose of this DVD. Our grandchildren under the age of five are absolutely enthralled by the repetition of the art, the prayers, and the broad display of colors and toys that they relate to. From an instructional perspective this is a masterpiece. It is always good to see something that both involves the children and is slow and methodical. It helps them develop and internal habit of good order. The hustle is kept out and their ability to wonder and dream is encouraged. At such a tender age, this is a good introduction to prayer, especially when helped along with parents and elders who watch with them. Psychologically this is one of the healthiest DVDs directed for the younger set that I have seen. Each of our five grown children have a copy of this DVD for their young children. They all appreciate the calming affect that it has and the subject to which it is introducing their little ones.

We love these videos. My only complaint is that I would like if they had a small PIP of a person doing sign language to the music and Scripture. I love that the music is Just the right speed not to slow, not to fast.
My two year old with Downs loves these. My older children 4 and up like them once or twice, but its for small children. I love that they use toys Babys hugging, Children pushing baby strollers.. LOVELY and Sacred images Awesome. . A wonderful WONDERFUL alternative to Baby Einstein’s. I love that my child can be entertained with Scripture, Mass, Things that show how joyful Catholics can be. These shows are not meant to replace parents Catechesis . Look at it for what it is. Catholic entertainment for BABIES and small toddlers. Its nice that babies and toddlers can learn to sing the same songs they can participate at Mass.
PLEASE MAKE MORE OF THESE.
