(Tobias 12:15). He brings blessings for both body and soul, a fact demonstrated in this booklet in the famous account of Tobias and Sara from the Old Testament-which shows how St. Raphael guided the young Tobias on a long journey and helped him to collect a debt for his father, to meet his future bride Sara, to begin a holy marriage, to drive away the devil from Sara, to return safely home and to cure his father's blindness. In each case, St. Raphael brought both healing and joy. We too can safely trust this holy and powerful heavenly friend who is eager to help us. St. Raphael is a grand little book to put us in touch with a most wonderful intercessor who loves us and who can obtain for us health of both body and soul and assistance in many difficult circumstances.

Archangel. One of the three angels mentioned by name in Scripture, and one of the seven that stand before God's throne. Lead character in the deutero-canonical book of Tobit in which he traveled with (and guarded) Tobiah, and cured a man's blindness; hence his connection with travelers, young people, blindness, healing and healers. Traditionally considered the force behind the healing power of the sheep pool mentioned in John 5:1-4.
