As of July 7, 2007, the Tridentine Mass (pre-Vatican II form of the liturgy) is being permitted on a wide scale again for the first time since the Council.

The 1962 Missal is being called the Missal of Blessed Pope John XXIII since he was the pope who promulgated the final version of the Missal before Vatican II.
