The story of the Iliad, is the story of the Ancient warrior, Achilles, in the 9th of the 10 years' long Trojan War.  The Iliad doesn't even take us to the end of the Trojan War.  It is a classic that should be read by every citizen  who has a say in governement and every teen and adult who has a say in another's life.  It's a classic tale at the head of classic tales.
 
So it's important.  Next I need to know which translation to teach and how to teach it.  Teaching the Iliad to my homeschool high school students has been challenging.  I've got a few "helps" that assist me.  The most help, by far, is the Lattimore translation of book itself.  It seems funny to use the book itself as a help to read the book.  It's because Lattimore's introduction, while fairly boring, gives INVALUABLE help to read Full Review...
