 Our Description

God's plan for your life is not as mysterious or unknowable as you might think. As Sister Ann Shields demonstrates in her probing reflections on the Gospel of Luke, the key to knowing what God is asking of you is to discover, first, who God is. If you are willing to spend time daily in his presence, ruminating on his word as it comes to you in Scripture, he will reveal himself and help you make the choices that conform to his will for your life. To Be Like Jesus will enable you to distinguish God's voice from the voices, noise and distractions of the world. As you let his word soak into your soul, you'll find there the power to surrender to him and play your part in building his kingdom.

Sister Anne Shields, S.G.L., is an internationally known evangelist and the host of the daily inspirational radio program Food for the Journey. She is a member of the Servants of God's Love in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This item received 4 stars overall. This series of meditations on Luke's Gospel brings one to a deeper understanding of God's love.

To Be Like Jesus is a series of 31 meditations on the Gospel of Luke.  It is thoughtfully written and very thought-provoking.  As I began, I wasn’t sure I liked the author’s tone… I often felt as if I were being spoken down to, scolded almost… as if she were assuming that I am not serious about my faith, or at least not as serious as she is.  However, I kept reading and eventually was able to lay aside my initial impression because of the deeply moving content of the meditations.

The author writes short reflections on 31 passages in Luke; each scriptural passage is printed out in full at the beginning of each chapter, which is very handy, and I loved that I was getting in a little actual Bible reading as I made my way through the book.  The series is meant to be read one at at time, weekly, for 31 weeks.  While, I did read it more quickly the first time through, I am looking forward to reading Full Review...
