I have read many different devotional and spiritual books in my life. Many were a bit too deep to read that I came away with a headache. Some books were the complete opposite - so simple to read that I came away feeling uninspired. The Journey to Easter fell right in between the two extremes. Our Holy Father writes and preaches at a level that I think most people can understand and be inspired. I needed to read the book in a quiet room to understand everything, but I was thankful to not find theological explanations written in Greek. Pope Benedict XVI explained the Mass readings as well as the key points of Lent in a simple, yet profound way.
The book is divided into three parts. The first part explains thoroughly the liturgy of the first week of Lent, (which pretty much sums up the whole of Lent) and the promise of a Savior, and our call to follow in His footsteps.
