I started reading Jesus of Nazareth: Vol II as my Lenten reading and ended up finally finishing it the week before Pentecost. This book is full of interesting information and it is completely reliable- considering it was written by the Pope. The book outlines the life of Jesus from his transfiguration to his death and ressurection. Pope Benedict tells with great respect about the Jewish way of life in the times of Jesus. The story follows Jesus through the Biblical accounts and disects each Gospel version. Pope Benedict also explains some of the early thinking of what Jesus was trying to accomplish and how. All of the Biblical characters are mentioned and the Pope also clarifies some common misconceptions that we have about some of the characters. My favorite part of the book was learning that Peter did not deny Jesus to save himself, rather, he denied Jesus to try to save Jesus. He did not trust Full Review...
