 Our Description

“This selection and arrangement of Chiara Lubich’s spiritual writings opens up the heart and soul of one of the most significant Catholic lay religious figures of our times. In our own day, there may be nothing more important than giving witness to the hope and the possibility of unity between and among people of all faiths — and of those with no faith at all. This is the legacy Chiara leaves to everyone concerned with the unity of all people.”

Michael Downey
Editor, The New Dictionary of Catholic Spirituality

Essential Writings, Chiara Lubich

An internationally known Catholic lay religious leader and writer, Italian-born Chiara Lubich is president of the Focolare Movement (Mary's Work), present in 182 countries. Universities, agencies, foundations, nations, states, and municipalities have recognized her work, including the Templeton Prize for the Progress of Religion (1977) and the UNESCO Peace Prize (1996). She has published over 50 books in 29 languages, with more than one million copies sold. Chiara was especially close to the late Pope John Paul II who asked her and the Focolare organization to be at the forefront of the dialogue between Catholics and people of other religious traditions.
