I have a confession: I buy too many Bibles.  But this Douay-Rheims Bible from Saint Benedict Press / TAN Books would survive my desert-island Bible list.  Here's why:
 
In the Catholic world, the number of English translations of the Bible are small.  This is a very good thing.  The Church, in her wisdom, approves translations for the faithful that are accurate, scholarly, and reverent.  However, somewhere along the line, it seems Catholic publishers got it in their heads that just because they couldn't offer some fashionable new translation every year, that there was no more work to be done in producing a Catholic Bible.
