I (somewhat) recently had my fifth child.  It wasn't until the very last days of that pregnancy that The Catholic Mother's Companion to Pregnancy came into my hands, and it isn't until now- six months later- that I am getting a chance to write this review.  How I wish this book had been around when I was just having my first child!  Mrs. Reinhard takes you through pregnancy- week by week- covering every aspect that you could ever imagine.   From miscarriage to physical complaints to fetal development to your changing spiritual life- this book talks about it all. 

Each chapter covers one week (or so) of pregnancy and is divided into sections: fetal development, maternal development, "Walking with Mary", "One Small Step", and "Faith Focus".  It includes meditiations, prayers, and practical information on your baby's fut Full Review...

A Practical Guide that Also Nourishes the Inner Mother-To-Be

So many of the crosses I have are made heavier by my approach to them. Instead of just walking along and dealing with them, I spend energy complaining, dreading, and trying to avoid them. Rather than offer them to God or--better yet--rather than asking him to help me, I try to do it just like my toddler insists, "By myself!"

Perfect Gift for Mom-to-Be

When I was pregnant with my first child (who is twenty now), I read What to Expect When You Are Expecting and some book that had film plastic overlays showing how the various systems in the baby's body developed.  I suspect I got some other books about pregnancy and childbirth from the library(this was before my internet days).  I was blissfully happy being pregnant (at least until morning sickness hit) and wanted to know all I could about this wonderful process happening inside me.  When I was pregnant with my third, my dad gave me a book for Christmas--The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy Full Review...
