Laity and Lay Ministry

The vocation crisis in America over the last fifty years has brought attention to the importance of the laity in the Catholic Church.  More and more, it is lay people running parishes, schools, and religious education programs.  Often times, liturgical reform on the local level is prompted by lay people and not by the priest.  The necessity of faithful lay members in the Church can not be understated.  But the laity needs to have a better understanding of it's role and how the Church can best use it.
