How to Light a Candle with a Candle Lighter

When lighting a candle with a candle lighter please follow these steps to avoid damaging your candle lighter.

1.  Extend the taper 1in.

2. Light the taper.

3. Light the candle wick while being careful to avoid touching the follower or the candle.  Handle the lighter carefully so that pieces of the taper do not fall into the candle.  This can result in a "second wick" and inhibit the proper burn of the candle.

4. After the candle is lit, retract the taper back into the lighter and IMMEDIATELY extend the taper again.  This will keep the lighter clean and prevent wax build-up.

5.  Inspect taper to insure it is completely extinguished.
