The parish chant resource your choir is missing

Comprehensive and simple Psalm-tone Propers now in new Antiphonary

Compiled in two volumes, this new antiphonary provides all the propers for the Ordinary Form of the Catholic Mass. Edited by Lawrence Rutherford, these Propers can be simply sung in unison or four part harmony.

While most versions of the Mass Propers include the Responsorial Psalm, Gospel Acclamation, the English Psalm-Tone Propers” includes the Entrance Antiphon, Offertory Verse and Communion Antiphon as well.

This set of Propers using Psalm tones has been offered to make traditional plainchant available to any choir, regardless of experience, or the most humble cantor. Not only is the chant uncomplicated to begin with, but the tone is repeated from Sunday to Sunday reducing rehearsal time for each Mass.

The Psalm tones do change seasonally. Psalm tone six is used during Ordinary Time, Psalm tone two for Advent and Lent and Psalm tone five for Christmas, Easter and other feast days. The cyclical nature of the tones provides both the choir and the congregation a sense of the liturgical seasons.

This antiphonary is the perfect introduction to more complicated Gregorian Chant while providing the complete repertoire of sung prayer from the text of the Mass.
