This booklet contains the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL) interim translation of the text for Eucharistic Prayer for Masses for Various Needs and Occasions, approved for use in the United States. The Eucharistic Prayer is repeated in a music setting so that it may be sung or spoken. Rubrics are in red and the texts are in large, readable black type.
The new Eucharistic Prayer has four prefaces and intercessions:
- "The Church on the Way to Unity" is suitable, for example, with the formularies of the Masses "For the Universal Church" or "For the Ministers of the Church."
- "God Guides the Church on the Way of Salvation" is suitable, for example, with the formularies of the Masses "For Priestly Vocations" and "For the Family."
- suitable, for example, with the formularies of the Masses "For the Spread of the Gospel" or "For Those Who Serve in Public Office."
- "Jesus, the Compassion of God" is suitable, for example, with the formularies of the Masses "For the Dying" and "For Any Need."
